How do you trust someone with geckos?

Michelle1010 Feb 25, 2007 06:23 PM

I have 2 2 yr old female geckos that my sons no longer want to take care of. I have been taking care of them. I was wondering how someone knows who to give them to. I use papertowels and mealworms for them. I care about them like they are my kids and feel bad wanting to get rid of them. I don't want them to be in sand or to be used as a breeding pet.

Well if we cared for our pets like our kids we'd never part with them. If I were you I'd just try to keep them they are not really high maintenance and are enjoyable captives. If you must part with them the realize even with a written agreement if some gets these guys they are going to do what they want to...

I can understand not wantingto give them to someone who uses sand, but I am VERY curious as to why you do not eant someone to breed them...

Well, breeding *is* stressful for them, and can lower their long-term life expectancy, but I'm with the earlier poster on this thread - they're relatively low-effort pets that don't take up a lot of space, and you only have to feed them every other day, just keep them!
