I had a collared lizard when I was a kid. I bought it from the "snake guy" at a local flea market. I've had all kinds of reptiles in the past and I'm wanting to get back in the hobby. My collared lizard was my favorite lizard that I ever had. BUT, where do you get one? There don't seem to be any for sale in stores or even online. I assume captive bred ones can be sold, right? Are there any good breeders out there and what is the going rate for one nowadays?

It's easy to fall in love with these guys. I wish I could help now as I breed them, but won't have hatchlings until later this spring as many breeders will have then.

There may be someone on here that has one or some older kids available , see if someone emails you. If not sometimes you can find them in the classifieds, but be careful as they are usually wild caughts, and harder to acclimate.

If you can not find any , let me know I can ask a friend and see if he has any available now.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm not positive that I'll be getting a collared lizard, but I'm definitely considering it. I'm actually shelling out a lot of cash for an egyptian tortoise that has finally hatched. So, I'll be getting him soon. BUT, I would like to get another reptile or two. So, considering the situation, I might be willing to wait a while for some to hatch. What kind of prices do they bring? I'm not asking for a price quote from anyone. I'm just wondering, in general, how much do they usually cost?

There was a good discussion (I thought) goin about how they *should* cost.

I've seen them between $30 and $60... $30 at a reptile show in Tampa (healthy), $40 at a Miami pet store (healthy), $60 at a NJ pet store (not 100% healthy... that place sucked)

A reasonable price for the best lizard you can get!

Great lil lizards, we sure love em here. When you get yours which I can tell you are in the process of doing , remember to post some pics for us all.
