My new iguana, how is color?

laramee Feb 25, 2007 11:38 PM

I'm wondering how my iguanas color looks to everyone. It is a pattern not just a blob of a brownish green. Thanks in advance.

Today his whole back is a dark color. It doesn't look like disease or anything. It is very warm in there with perfect humidity. Not sure why he is darkening. The bulbs are far enough away where it would not be burning him. Any suggestions?

Most likely he got stressed in some way or is getting ready
to shed. Mine turns almost black in areas just before he
sheds.

Hope this helps

Hopefully that's it. When I got him(1 week ago) he still had some shed on his head. I read that they shed all the time, could it be this soon? Thanks a lot.

They shed almost continually as babies (if I recall correctly, been so long) but also double check yours temps. The small inexpensive dial thermometers are often as much as 20 degrees off. It would be worth a few extra bucks to pick up a digital type and double check you get the same readings. Good luck.

Thank you for your time. I have 2 digital thermometers/hygrometers in the enclosure. It's 95 in basking area and 82 in the rest of the enclosure. The humidity is 65% most of the time. I'm working on getting a little more, but for now I mist it very often.
