Zoophobra Accident

stevereecy Feb 26, 2007 01:21 PM

So, I fed my collareds some zoophobras (king superworms, etc.), and first the male latched onto one end of one, then the female latched onto the other end of the same worm. A tug of war ensued, and they couldn't break it in half. They kept munching forward until one of my collards bit the other's nose and wouldn't let go. An ugly scene that ended up with a little blood, and some neosporin.

They're OK now.

The thing is, they are extremely well fed. From now on, I won't risk feeding them zoophobras while they are together.

I could not resist. Yeah the super tug of war usually ends in a nip for somebody.
I always throw one superworm on one end and make one collared go that way, and throw the other the opposite way, just scatter them.

BUT... sometimes they will STILL grab the same dang worm, go figure!

How are your pair doing ? Sounds as though they are eating well, lol

They are doing really well. The kids love them, especially our 20 month old, always telling us what they are doing. I think I'm over feeding them. Yesterday, I saw them both just basking as a cricket walked by. Their eyes followed it, but they were like, "eh, what are ya gonna do?". I think me and the Mrs. each fed them separately on the same day.
