need some advise

unf Feb 26, 2007 08:49 PM

My retic struck the screen top. And now 4 days later his mouth / upper teeth are swollen on one side. Is this gonna require a visit to the vet??? The swollen area is very small. the swollen area is not red and I dont see any puss or anything like that coming out.

take'em out and get a good look at the mouth... if you see any loose teeth remove them if you can... give your retic a soak in betadine and water mix... you dont need much betadine... maybe a couple table spoons. you can get betadine at any drug store, its an anti-septic. if you have a syringe use that instead of a soak... squirt the betadine and water mix to flush out the mouth. this is just preventive medicine...

retics are good healers - most likely it doesnt need a vet - unless it gets infected really really bad and you smell a foul stench. then you need a vet asap.

keep an eye on it and see it will eat... keep it on the warm side and it should be A-OK.

hope that helps.
