Quick Question...

bizkit421 Feb 26, 2007 10:05 PM

I bought my Albino yesterday and the breeder didn't have the sex listed on the lid of the container so I asked him to check... When he did, she looked ok, but when I pulled her out today to feed her, she attempted to musk, but her vent was all swollen and she was bleeding a little... Is this normal?

I pulled her out a few mintues ago to take pics, but she looks ok now... I'm keepin an eye on her, if she swells again she's goin straight to the vet...

On a brighter note, she inhaled 2 pinkies this afternoon... I'll give her till Wednesday and try feedin her again if she still looks good...

Unfourtunatly, some people are a little too rough when popping hatchlings... It actually takes very little pressure to invert hemipens if done correctly.

Keep an eye on the swelling/bleeding and hopefully she will bounce back on her own. To tell you the truth, i dont even know what a vet would do for her?

I think she will be ok in a few days.

well I figured if there was any infection she'd need some meds...

But like I said in last post, she was lookin better when I pulled her out to check her again... I'm tryin not to handle her too much though since she's stressed from bein in a deli cup all day Sunday and I just fed her last night...

She's pretty mellow though... She only attempted to musk that one time, and barely rattles her tail at me unless I'm tryin to take her picture...

Well, it obviously a little late for this advice but I wouldn't feed her for a week or even two. Twice I have heard of snakes that had a damaged cloaca due to improper probing prolapse when they passed feces. Give her a little while to heal before you start pumping her up and taxing her digestive system. Just my 02

so you're sayin i should wait and make sure she's passing her last meal ok before I give her more... Sounds like a good idea... It's been a while since I've dealt with a little one like this, and thankfully Spot didn;t have any problems...

Thank you...
