Pics - Hatchling Not Ready To Hatch!

Here's the second hatchling emerging from it's egg from my 22 year old three toed box turtle Clyde.

It started to hatch the other day and it looked like it was going to be out of the egg soon in this picture.

But as you can see in this picture below, taken later that night, the hatchling had decided different!

Maybe the shell was like a security blanket to it.

Honestly, is there anything cuter in the world, except maybe a human baby. I'm hoping to get a first clutch this year, can not wait!!! you must be very proud.

lol when I read the topic of the thread I thought you meant a premature hatchling. nice markings on that one!
I've had hatchlings turn around before, usually they do it when they still have a lot of yolk out of the body.
