feeding question ????

ballfreak Feb 27, 2007 04:43 PM

first off my balls have taken a vaction from feeding. winter recess sucks! i have been trying for weeks and weeks and they just wont eat or even come out from there hides. my question is should i remove the hides when i feed them? i feel if the hides were out maybe they will go after there food instead of just not coming out at all? also i have always fed them live now they are all about 800- 900 grams should i try to feed them p/k? i was thinking about leaving them a p/k over nite to see if they will eat? i tell you i love ball pythons but they are a real pain with there feeding habits..

Leave the hides in there - it makes them feel more secure. My female seems to prefer eating in her tub so I leave her there with her hide, I just lift it up and make sure she's awake, then put it back down and put in the rat. I "wake" her up by just stroking her once or twice whatever part of her is on the outside of her coil. Nothin fancy It works for me, so that's something you can try.
