While we were away in October, our herp-sitter inadvertently caught one of my leos' tail in a hide door. She lost the tip of her tail. Over the last few months she's been very jumpy, has lost weight & not been eating. Vet found no biological reason. I did supplemental feeding & kept her in isolation (she normally lives w/ 2 other girls, with whom she's lived for several years w/o problem). She has regained her appetite, so today I reintroduced her to the communal cage. She was immediately jumpy/skittish & ran & hid, but she sought shelter in the same hide she lost her tail in (a community favorite hide).
Could it be that she associates that cage with the pain of losing her tail tip? She was not jumpy/skittish at all in the isolation cage. If she is traumatized, how can I get her over it?
