Help with Sexing. Pics included.

Lucien Feb 27, 2007 07:17 PM

Sorry for the blurry pics and how many of them there are..but I was trying to get good shots so someone could tell me whether I have a pair.. or if they're both the same sex.. and if so are they male or female? I'm intending to breed them eventually but need to know what I already have. They appeared to be a pair to me.. but these 2 little guys are the first hognose snakes I've ever had.. so any help would be much appreciated and now for the pics:

Suspected male (Dagon) is on the left... suspected female (Demona) on the right.

I would vote both females as well. A males tail would be twice as long.

Thanks alot everyone, I'm grateful for the help. They were sold to me as a pair and I couldn't figure out how to be sure if they were or not since probing doesn't seem to work well with hognose snakes. So, I guess I got 2 females for the price of one.. now all I need is to find a single male at a relatively reasonable price and I'll have twice the number of babies when its time to breed them *L*

Also, if anyone has a tail comparison pic for future reference I'd very much appreciate that as well...

Thanks guys

Here is a pic. The tips of the tails are touching and my thumb is at the vent of the male(albino).

You can see the males tail is much longer.

So I have been putting off asking because they are too small to breed they are 05s, but this seems like a good time. I am hoping they are a pair, but don't rally have any idea. Hopefully a picture will be attached at least once, if not color me embarrassed.

Thanks,
duncan

Might have to differ here, that could easiely be two females.

Very true it could be two females but the size difference and the proportion of the tails vs body would indicate male for the right one left one def. female.
