gorio Feb 27, 2007 09:01 PM

i had seen some fishes with nice contrast but needs a brackish environment and i am planning to make an aquarium with a brackish theme to it.. is it safe to place an RES in a brackish environment? will they stop drinking if they detect the presence of salt in the water?

They might stop drinking. I wouldn't do this with a RES.
Diamondback terrapins go well in brackish water but not freshwater sliders.

Do not use a RES in brackish setups. They are freshwater turtles. Also, I think a turtle is the wrong choice all together if your going to be having fish in it. They will eventually eat your fish. But, if you insist on having a turtle the Diamond Back Terrapin would be pretty much your only choice as mentioned above.
