mantellas with pdf's

blueta Aug 11, 2003 06:26 PM

I was going to remodle my PDF tank and was wondering if I could keep my pdf's with golden mantellas. They are close in size also. They would be together for quite some time. I was wondering if this was ok. Thank you.

Myself I have never kept Mantellas long enough to know a whole lot about them, I do know that they require a much drier enviroment than darts thus causing quite a problem with mixing. If you are going to reconstruct your PDF tank you could always use a plastic sweater box or something of this sort to hold them until you are finished with the tank. Even if it is for 2 or 3 months they would be fine in this box. Just an opinion..............

mantellas like different conditions that dart frogs.... the most obvious being temperature. mantellas generally need to be kept at cooler temps than dart frogs... high temps that dart frog like would stress them out and having darts at cooler temps would stress the darts out. best just not to mix species of the same family, much less species of seperate families.
