Is this normal?

Just did some minor sugery on December 2006. Is it ok by looking at the picture? The Vet told me that the tread is digradable.

A thought here. It is great that you put in the effort to go to a herp vet 200 miles away! You are awesome. If the wound is infected however any vet should be able to determine something as simple as that. That's basic stuff. Other thing is perhaps there may be the possibility of a local vet checking your Iguana and working with the far away vet! Most vets that I know would welcome the opportunity to increase their knowlege and work with a herp vet for the good of the animal. If meds are needed even a local cat or dog vet should have the appropriate meds for an iguana. You have to think here...Meds were developed generally for humans first then farm animals and cats and dogs. Its the same kinds of stuff just dosages should be different. If it were me I would call the local vet and ask point blank if there was someone there who could check it and consult with (add the specific name of your vet 200 miles away) I think the chances are here that you will find someone reasonable and willing to help the situation. Another thing to consider too...Is your Iguana peeing, pooping and eating, If the infection (if there is one) is serious these functions will stop as the animal becomes sicker( of course my guess here is that if its gone that far your Iguana may be doomed already, I don't have the experience to answer that one). But the peeing, pooping and eating thing is true in all animals. Good luck with this. I am so lucky my vet is only 1/2 an hour away and a pleasant country drive to boot.
