melindaste Feb 28, 2007 06:03 PM

I have a sulcata tort and it is about 6 months old. I have had it since december 24 and it has not gained any weight since I got it but it's shell has defintly has grown, I measure that also. He is very active eats constantly and it's poops are regular(I have seen pics) How much in a month or years time do they gain weight..

Its difficult to say how much a baby sulcata should grow, but as long as its eating foods with a good calcium phosphorous ratio he should be okay. Sulcatas in captivity usually reach adult size within 15-20 years but different specimens have different periods of growth, so it is hard to define normal weight gain. With proper feeding and a good excerise area though he should be gaining weight soon.
