Beautiful snake, but thats not a reverse stripe. A reverse stripe has a single black stripe down the center.

cheers

delaneycolubrids Mar 01, 2007 03:47 PM

No that is a reverse stripe

I agree with Zach. Your snake has the same striping as a normal wild striped phase. The only difference between yours and the wild kind is yours has an increased amount of yellow going all the way up the sides.
A reverse stripe is just that, has a black/brown stripe down the center of the back where the yellow/white stripe normally is. I would call yours a High Yellow Striped phase, and grade A for what it is.

Here's a wild stripped one. Your's is awesome with the high white sides but otherwise it is a normal stripe phase. It is nice though.

Dang, that is nice.

Hopefully it is still running (crawling) around in the same area and didn't get greased by a car. The pic was taken on the side of a busy highway (I shooed it off the road but who knows).

JOSH, DON'T YELL! LOL! I believe you bought it as a reverse stripe but these kind people are trying to show you what a true reverse stripe looks like from their personal collections of hundreds of calkings. It's ok, man. It is your snake, believe what you want.High whites come in all patterns! Here's an abberrant high white or two.

Pet stores, shows, breeders, and dealers commonly mis-identify Cal King morphs.

It is a very beautiful snake regardless of the label attached to it - a snake many would love to have.

I'm no expert on cal king morphs, but that's a nice snake. How did you get that particular morph?

Kerby... Mar 01, 2007 10:32 PM

By breeding an Albino High White x High White Reverse Stripe (het albino)

once again... I want one... lol... nice, very very nice...

reako45 Mar 01, 2007 03:33 PM

Is that one of the same ones that was pictured in your breeding pics? Wow! Impressive looking adult. While these Cal King morphs an other King color morphs are neat to see as babies, it's really awesome, IMHO, to see how they've turned out as adults.

hate to be redundant but like others have said the snake isn't the "text book" reverse striped cali king

a few options as to what the morph can be referred to as are Hi-yellow 2x striped or striped banana as i've heard/seen similar specimen labeled as such

You know Zenny, I don't think I do....I've ended up selling them off at various times.
I get these guys when I breed a "banana" female to a melanistic
"mendota looking" male. Some have that eye stripe.
