I'm glad I'm not the only one...

... who is sick and tired of all of this albino /striped / axanthic/ blood-red/ motley / peanut-butter / hypo-CRAP!

I like this new movement to locality-specific, "mother-nature designer phase" regular king snakes. You know, I think it's time to judge the amelanistic and all other abnormal genes for what they are ~ a detriment to the long-term survival of the various snake species and something to breed away from.

I just quietly chuckle when I see "albino florida hatchlings" etc. for $500 in the classified section. I think to myself, "sucker", at whoever would buy one...

While most of the time I will agree that morphs dont look as nice as the original, I will ask YOU if you feel the same way after you see 1000 "normal"kings then get to see an albino. If you stay in the hobby/business long enough as a breeder you dont always do what YOU want all the time. Sometimes you are influenced by $$, prestige of being the first with something new, but mostly BOREDOM. These new morph--multimorph animals keep something NEW coming along and keep the attention of some of us longer. It's not that CHAIN kings are not pretty, but when you go through the time and effort of producing young only to put them on a table(thoroughly gleened of anomalies)for $10ea (only to recoup some of your expenses--never mind time)only to not be able to sell them.....Why not produce something that there is a DEMAND for??(like albinos) By the time babies hatch the last thing any serious breeder is looking forward to is feeding lots of extra mouths that you KNOW wont be in the long term plan. I now compromise my breeding strategy towards what I KNOW I can move easily(not having to deal with $5 tire kickers is a plus too!). Sorry for the length but havent had a good rant in almost an hour,LOL!Jeff
