5.0 or 2.0?

I need a new uvb bulb for my bearded. Could anyone tell me the difference between a 5.o bulb and a 2.0 bulb? which is better for a bearded dragon? thanks!

5. is better .. but i use a 7. --- i would guess one just gives off more UVB lighting

im sure someone could explain it better then me

for most UVB bulbs the 2.0, 5.0. 10.0 etc means the amount of UVB the bulb puts out (can't remember if its a percentage, or just measurement) In either case, the higher the number, the better.

Yes for flourescent bulbs, the number is the percentage of light rays that are put out in the UVB band range. So a 10.0 puts out approx. 5 times the amount of a 2.0 assuming that the bulb is the same length and wattage. For a bearded Dragon a 5.0 is recommended if the bulb is within 12" and a 10.0 is recommended for distances up to 20" or through a fine screen top.

Actual amount of UVB radiation is measured in microwatts per cm2 (cm squared)
