I'm also having a shed problem with a new rescue. He has a bit stuck on his head. He also left some lieing around his cage. When I picked him up from the guy, he had shed all over, yet he had a humid hide. Maybe he's just not terribly good at getting it off? I read somewhere that stuck shed was a lack of something, but I can't remember what. I havn't been able to get the guy to eat yet, but I would assume it's because of the shed. Let me know if anyone has any tips.

If the leo is not shedding properly then it has to do with its setup not being correct or having a sufficient place for them to shed. Like a humid hide. Temps should be from 85-90 hot side and there should be a hide of somesort that is humid for his shed to come off easier. It could have moist papertowels or moss or vermucilite whatever you prefer.

Soaking them in luke warm water for 30 min should help as well. Also there is oils you may use to help aide in shedsing when he goes into shed next time so that you can help with aiding in his shedding.

Simply saying that cage conditions aren't correct isn't really a good answer. My rescue has the exact same set up that my original gecko has, and he has never had a problem. There has to be something else.

Yes it is andrew because if the cage conditions are not ideal then neither will your leos shed. So you could not have an ideal setup as well and that is why you are having problems. Now i am not saying this "is" for sure the case it is just most of the time the problem. That is why i said it. Check out some web pages or read a book and it definelty says it in there if there setups and temps are not correct some shedding issues may occur.

That is why bathing and so on it also recommended for those who don't have correct setups.

okay everyone, there is this stuff called "shedding aid" by T-Rex. it has saved many, many, toes of mine befor i learned how to set up a proper shedding environment. It says it WILL NOT hurt your reptiles eyes. you can spray it directly on your animal, rub in, and then assist in pealing it off gently. it really works in just seconds, way better then warm water! it is a green bottle and i think it may be in a box with a green snake on it. i got mine from petco. they may also have it at petsmart or a herp store. im sure if you searched Repti Shedding Aid on the net you would find something. its not expensive. to you guys who have shedding problems you need to get it off asap! an ifection in the eye due to shed can be fatal and or result in blindness or brain/nerve damage.
