skin discoloration

I am beyond confused about this. I have a 9 ft burm that has a dark skin discoloration on the upper third of his belly scales. It starts small and slightly grey and becomes darker with a red tinge. It disappears almost entirely with shedding. He's been to the vet who has given us Silvadene cream as well as a few different antibiotics. These do not necessarily seem to make a difference. Has anyone had any experiences with Burms and this type of discoloration. His enclosure is too small I know but we are currently constructing a new one (he was a rescue and the enclosure he's in came with him). The temps range from 85 to 90 during the day and 75 to eighty at night. The humidity was about 80% but per the vets advice we lowered it to 70% about a month ago. As I said the enclosure is small (4ft x 2ft) but we've been keeping him on newspaper and it's always clean and dry. Please share your thoughts! I've had a reputable breeder in my area tell me it was nothing but the vet thinks he needs more meds. I'll post a pic of it as soon as I can. Thanks

I'm pretty sure this is normal, this happens with several normal phase ball pythons that my friends have. If it goes away with shedding, is feeding normally and other such things chances are it is absolutely nothing. Any vet that just wants to treat with meds before knowing whats wrong is a quack (or at least wants your money) and I would stayaway as meds with reptiles still are'nt fully understood.
