Tomistoma fundraiser review part II

On Sunday I decided to pursue an expedition that has been on my list for a long time. I wanted to find the spectacled caimen in Homestead. Joe Wasilewski confirmed they were there, so that was good enough for me. I tried to put together a scouting group, but the only one interested was Dieter. Bunch of wienies.
I probably walked 10+ miles of ditches on Sunday in search of the elusive caiman. I attempted to talk to every local to confirm sightings, but English was not very popular in that area. I spent all day walking ditches on both private and public property. The only reptiles I saw were a few turtles. I do believe the ditches were a viable habitat. In a lot of them, the water was clear, the depth was 3'+ in some areas, there were many miles that were interconnected and fish of all sizes were abundant. I snapped a photo of some buzzards feasting on a dog early in the day. Maybe next time.

Well wienies they may have been but in the defense of the wienies it was cool and it would have been wet. Contrast this with a good BS session or the draw of South Beach and caiman hunting becomes less of a draw.

I'm a writer and an educator. My wife says I'm a five star croc guy. If I can stay clean I do.

Next trip.
