Copulations after ovulation?

ronin1360 Mar 02, 2007 01:21 AM

i was just wondering if it's possible for a female to lock up with a male after ovulating. i know a male will be much less interested in a gravid female but have any of you witnessed copulations after ovulation?

I have 2 pairs right now that I am sure the females has ovulated (but not 100% which is why I still have the males in with them) but I looked in and they are both locked up again.

I have never seen it happen before in our collection, but not saying it isnt possible. Normally our males dont go back in if they have ovulated but on occasion have been in the cage after wards, but they have always wanted nothing to do with the female. When you pick them up do they curl their tail up and try to stay in a ball? that is normally a very good sign ... Good luck with them

Yep! Mine snuck ovulation by me and my pair continued to lock up all the way til the final shed before egg laying.

Yes alot of my males will continue to lock up with a gravid female. Last year my male Axanthic was breeding a large female and the next morning I went to check on them and she was on eggs and he was still trying to lock up with her again LOL. It happens. Paul
