Was watching Showtime last night...

I was watching a show on Showtime last night at the same time I was reading posts on this forum and thought it was interesting. I posted it last night but apparently it got censored. I'll try to sterilize even further this time for everyone's safety and see what happens.

The show was Penn and Teller's, uh, "Male Cow Dung". It's a half hour show where they criticize the idiocracy that goes along with a specific topic. Ususally filled with lame jokes, but still better than most of the other mind-numbing garbage on TV. That reminds me, I missed American Idol last night. I was getting caught up on Britney Spears hair-do and Anna Nicole's burial. Phooey. Oh well, they are very important public figures that everyone should be educated about.

Anyway, the one last night was about Pet Lovers. They had a 3 minute segment at "a well-known Illinois reptile show". A large, slow-talking man dressed in camoflauge and red suspenders talked about why ball pythons are so popular, as he held a pied. He said how cool it is when something hatches out that nobody's ever seen before, because of the "hidden genetics" in ball pythons. At that point, Teller's voice over chimed in saying, "There's just something unnerving about the cast of Hee Haw getting involved in genetic engineering". LOL! They also had a guy molesting an anaconda to make it gape and hiss. Cut to a doctor of some type saying that, "Some animals just don't belong in the average household". Teller's comment this time, "Gee, do ya think"? As the guy's 3 friends wrestle the incredibly threatening 5 foot anaconda off his arm.

They also covered cat shows and people that have dozens of cats. And a guy that invented artificial testicle implants for dogs. That was quite amusing too.

I saw that ep sometime last year. Its the reason I quit watching Penn & Tellers Bullstuff.

Its the typical narrow minded thought process that is possessed by the majority of the population. Atleast htey weren't terrible compared to many people regarding the hobby.

compared to how they usually approach the topics from a very "liberal" view. But I mean, they did have a point, just judging by the people they interviewed. The guy with the anaconda was a freakin moron. When ya think about it, there are a lot of people at reptile shows who don't look like they crawled out of the deep end of the gene pool, if you know what I mean. Haha.

That is quite true. Its unfortunate how easily those who are against the hobby can find a batch of people with an extra chromosome (or a single branch family tree)

I was left with a bad taste from the show more to do with the lack of objective consideration, then the inbreeding that is rampant in the hobby (and I don't mean the snakes this time )

In all fairness, I was talking about hidden genetics in ball pythons, and was actually describing the excitement when the circus ball hatched. I was not wearing camoflauge and suspenders, I was wearing a green tie die shirt with a cobra head on it. I was not holding the pied it was the guy I help, and he wasn't wearing suspenders either. I may have came across as slow because I wanted to choose my words carefully, so I didn't come across as an idiot! When tape footage is edited, things can be taken out of context and made to appear different, but unfortunately the guy with the andaconda was not exagerated.

Sorry but they did do a good job on that one.
