Another adult Hypo and my MBK female

Nokturnel Tom Mar 02, 2007 04:36 PM

This is a Love line Hypo. I got her as an adult and she was flawless. She was raised slow n steady, and though she was 3 or 4 years old when bred for the first time she became eggbound. So much for thinking age is more important than size...
Anyhow as you can see she just ate 6 mice. I am trying to beef her up for this year, and will make sure she is very hydrated, as dehydration can be a factor in egg binding. She is a very nice looking snake, and the babies she produced were very cool looking and variable.

Here is her enclosure, a 74 qt container. If you have the room GO BIG, your snakes will love it.

I snapped off a quick pic of my breeder MBK, another huge King that averages 30 eggs per season. She is often admired by visitors as one of the nicest snakes I have.

Nice bins. Where did you find those?

Nice snakes too. That MBK is huge!

Nokturnel Tom Mar 04, 2007 01:47 PM

I get them at Target. They're not always in stock so when they have them I grab a few. They're so big you have to actually pay attention to how many you can fit in your car per trip. I think they're ideal for colubrids. Tom Stevens

yeah they really do look like exactly what I need for my larger kings (and the black milks that are on the top of my wish list!)

What kind of rack do you use them in? Do you find that they can support their own weight as they are pulled out of the rack? Or do they have to be removed completely and rested on a more solid table?

Nokturnel Tom Mar 04, 2007 10:15 PM

Unfortunately I do not have things set up as I wish I did. I make a lot of my shelves alone and have reused the wood like 4 times already, I just make do with what I have. I have some Vision racks for smaller stuff but I use lids on a lot of my larger containers. It is a hassle and all but since I seem to do well producing babies I just try not to get too frustrated with all the extra work. Lids are a pain, and they take extra time but whatever....it's working for now and eventually I will have a better set up Tom Stevens
