Be sure and check out Saurian.com website. Patrick has the most reliable frogs(especially for Newbie's). I am extreemly happy about my D. Colbalt Tinctorius purchased from him. They are not only the most colorful, but they put on quite a show as bold as they are. Plus, they really love to eat and be out and about. For a first time frog they really are easy, hardy, and a pleaser as far as entertainment goes. You'll see them a lot. Mine come closer to the front to investigate me everytime I am in the room, which can charm a person into being a dart addict like the rest of us fools! Others will have their favorite beginner frog such as Leucs, and Tricolors. Those are certainly great frogs. I am partial to the color combos on the colbalt Tincs though. I guarrantee you, just as long as you start with one of the recommended beginner frogs, you'll soon have the others so it really almost doesn't matter which you choose first, you'll end up with the others really soon
.
i love the cobolts as well as the others you mentioned and i know i'll end up starting with one of the kinds you listed; but in the future i know i'll probably end up getting a pair of azureus or imitator eventually... how hardy and bold are these 2 kinds?
thanks for all the help

My imitators are hardy, bold, athletic and start breeding at about 5 months. They are also a good beginner frog if you aren't intimidated by their tiny size. There is usually a waiting list for them, however.

4 D. auratus blue
3 D. galactonotus pumpkin orange splash back
5 D. imitator
4 D. leukomelas
4 D. pumilio Bastimentos
My first PDF were azureus, and they are great. Very easy to take care of and easy to read dealing with their behaviors and such, deffenetly a good choice for a first time frog.
hope this helps

It looks like you have quite a list of good ones, now. I think I want the azureus for my next ones. See what happens? They should be called Potato Chip Frogs-- No one can stop with just one.

The pumpkin orange galactonotus and leukamelas are active, hardy and bold, too. As Maggie says, whatever you start with, you'll want others.

hi
from what ive heard imitators are really awesome starter frogs for thumbnails, but i wuould start with tincs, because i think they have a totally awesome personality. azurues are very bold and easy to keep from what ive heard, i am ordering both imitators and azureus, just waiting for it to cool off and i know that you will probably enjoy any frog you get and by ready for an addiction because they are awesome.

Hi,
I have had my imitator for about 10 months now and they are great frogs.Mine can sometimes be very shy but are out and about most of the time if I don't disturb them.I have sold some froglets and have asked the people that I sold them to how theirs were and they say thiers are bold.I am letting mine take care of a tadpole in a brom axil so that is very cool to watch.Good luck with yours when you get them.
