beginner tortoise/turtle?

killr_silhouette Mar 03, 2007 06:57 AM

hi everyone...i know that turtles and tortoises can sometimes be demanding captives...my younger sister had a baby musk turtle...and unfortuanately it passed away this morning...

she is not an experienced herp-keeper...i try to teach her the basics and what i know... and she sometimes helps me with my snakes and other herps...

but i was wondering if there is a tortoise or turtle that is fairy easy to care for & that doesn't get too large...

i am not a turt/tort person, i think they are cute, but im more accustomed to snake husbandry...so i was just curious to see what you had to say...

i would of course do the proper reading and find the care info...and help her with the animal...but i was hoping to find something that i can say..."okay do this, this & this" and pretty much be done with it...besides the occasional temp checks & checking other various things that could result in a problem...

i have quite a few critters to care for all on my own...but i am still VERY concerned about the animal's welfare...

lol...that was very long, i apologize....

thanks!
jessica
