Milksnakes mates

Can you put 2 milksnakes in the same cage, if there the same size?

it really depends on the snake, many people say that eastern milks (lampropeltis t triangulum) are notoriously canabalistic and I have witnessed this in person. I am now housing two easterns in a 20 gallon tank with 4 or 5 hide spots and have had no problems for about 2 years or so. they are of similar size. when i first introduced them together I watched them for a while. space came to a minimum and I decided to brumate them together and when i brought them out I decided to leave them be as they were always coiled up together. so I would advise caution if attempting this. and remember to ALWAYS feed seperately. good luck

Four years ago when I bought my first snake, I bought a King.

Six months later I went to the local reptile show and fell in love with the Sinaloans. The booth that had the prettiest Sinaloans had something like 16 of them, and they were being housed together for the show. They were babies and all from the same clutch.

I ended up buying two, one male and one female, and took them home in the same container. They stayed coiled up together the entire ride home. Being brand new to reptiles, I thought I could keep them together since they seemed to be getting along so well. I knew you did not want to house King's together, but I figured sine the Sins were notorious for mild temperments and they were not "kings" that I could house them together. I gave them plenty of hiding spots, multiple water bowls, three wet sphagnum moss containers to sit in when they needed moisture for shedding, and then put them in the tank together. They have ALWAYS been fed WELL, and fed SEPERATELY.

Funniest thing happened. Since day one, they still stay coiled together. They use the exact same sphagnum moss container. When one goes in, the other follows right behind. They are literally inseperable. To this day, they seem to "love" each other a great deal...if they are capable of emotion.

I'm not suggesting you try this. I can tell you I did, and they get along great. I'm actually going to the show this summer in June to pick up another pair to house together.

It really is beautiful to see them both together coiled up all around each other like a pair of adjoined twins.

I was told to be careful when I first asked about doing it. But so far things have gond very well...and it's been three years now.

Yeah..it's been really weird. When I go to get one out of their cage, the other one is right on top trying to be picked up as well. It's almost as if they can't live without each other. I have always fed them separately and fed them well (not overfeeding, but fed well). Like I said, I've always offered them plenty of hiding places away from each other, etc. They've essentially been given their own seperate places for EVERYTHING, but within the same cage.

I wonder sometimes what would happen if I took away their seperate containers etc. I'm not going to find out though. They live in such harmony, it's just spectacular. I dont know if they would have been this way if say they had not been from the same clutch, or had spent any time at all alone without the presence of another Sinoloan. It's hard to say. Either way, it's beautiful to look at.

I'm definitely going to buy another pair of Sins this June and see how they do together.

Here's a pic when they were much younger. I don't have any recent pics...only video.

I'll try to get some pics of them this week and post up. They're sooooooooooooooooooo much bigger now...but still just as beautiful.
