Doesn't like eating from a bowl?...

-ryan- Mar 03, 2007 11:31 AM

this is an update on the new mali uromastyx (baby CB) that I bought last sunday. She seems to be doing great. She is out basking everyday, and has pooped almost every day. Usually she's been pooping very small amounts, but today she had a normal size one which leads me to believe that she must be eating something. I think she's starting to come around (as far as eating), because today when I was putting her bowl of food in for her she decided to eat some greens and sprouts from my fingers (and off of the ground), but she just doesn't seem interested in eating out of her food dish.

The dish has very low walls. The whole dish is only about 1/2-3/4" tall, and the food is clearly visible to her when she walks by. Is there anything I can do to help entice her to eat from her dish, or should I just play the waiting game?

Thanks.

make sure all food is free of moisture so no substrate sticks to it
you can put some food on the floor in a "trail" to the bowl
put the bowl in the same spot every time
if there is a particular area of the floor she likes to eat from put the bowl there
a good spot is near the hot spot brightly lit but not right under the bulb
