Bulbs! Buuuulllbs!

aero_tiff Mar 03, 2007 12:39 PM

Hey guys, I have a 100watt sunglo in my bask spot of a 40galBR and it's served me well for a long time, but Hurley seems to be ignoring it lately, just likes to hang out on the heat rock instead (then go run off and try to climb the glass).

I didn't want to go too high and fry them but seems they want it higher. What's the highest watt you guys all use? Maybe I'll upgrade.

Heya Tiff, how long have you had the bulb??

It is my understanding from reading the differe "Bulb" posts and talking with the different "Experts" at pet store that you have to replace the bulbs every year.

Plus, what is the temperature at the basking spot??

I believe the basking spot should be around 100 to 110 or so.

Sorry that I am not dead sure on this a little hazy today, lot's going on, weeee. Lol

I prolly had the bulb about a year. I'll grab a new one up in Tampa this weekend, or just see about a 150W household bulb and building the rock pile higher. Maybe with some new collareds too.

Bask spot.... not hot enough. Still waiting on the thermo to read, but I'm sure it should be hotter. I'll grab a temp gun this weekend too...

Thanks!
