can someone tell me what type of redtail this is. I used to think a red tail was a red tail, but I have read up a little and found out there are different types. Please speak laymans terms for me because I am a colubrid person, not a boa person.
thanks in advance

Looks like it is on the BCI side of the fence. A Columbian-ish. As opposed to a true BCC.

nice looking snake. i vote Columbian or similar.

a classic Colombian boa. And a nice one at that. Should have some attractive colors as it ages!

Peaked, blocky saddles like that are an anomaly in a pure Colombian boa, from what I've seen.
.
Locality of origin is only established for certain by knowing where the boa (or it's progenitors) originated.
.
Good luck with that pretty boa.

I just didnt want to call it a columbian red tail, if it was some other type.
