I went to Lowes to get moss for my turtle. All I could find there was moss that had miracle grow in it. Which I figured was a big no. Does anyone know of a store that sells it with nothing added to it? Thanks.

I buy peat moss from Lowes. You have to go outside the building to the garden center area where they store topsoil, mulch, and things of that nature. I buy the large bales, but I believe that they stock plain old peat moss in bags out there, too.

I bought unmilled peat moss at Lowes outside in the garden center, that is the stuff in a small bag that looks like moss. I have also bought (@Lowes) the big bale of milled peat moss that is brown, pulverized (milled), and compressed. The later is much cheaper but messier when it gets drug into a water dish and the food.

I have found plain moss at Home Depot and I also found it at Walmart in the craft dept. rather than the plant dept.
If all else fails & if you want spaghnum moss.. you could pay the outragious high prices at the pet store for frog moss.
