two different ways to get 30gallons?

badevilcow Mar 05, 2007 03:58 PM

Greetings...

I did a search before asking.. so be nice.. my male ball python is growing up quick.. and he's about to outgrow his 15gallon.. now many web sites say (esp. the great melissa kapplan) that an adult can live in a 30 gallon.. Now I was looking at barrs cages. and I noticed that 30gallons can be 36x12x12 or 24x24x12 (29.5gal).. so is there a preference on how to get 30 gallons? The diagonal space in the 24x24x12 is greater.. so I'm leaning towards that..

basically.. should i got 36x12x12 or 24x24x12 (the later so far looks like it would work better in my apartment)

thanks alot everyone!

For Ball pythons floorspace is more desirable than height.

yes.. thats why both tanks are only 12'' high..

never the less.. since 24x24 is more floor space i think thats the ticket..

Just checking:

Are you sure that they are both 12" high. Usually it is a 30 long or a 30 tall. The tall being 24" length, 12" width, and 24" height.

Which ever gives you more floor space and ease of thermal regulation.

24x24 should give you more floor space.

24x24x24 may be more floor space, but what about providing a good temperature gradient? Seems like it would be easirer to provide a good range of temps for thermoregulation in the longer tank. Just a thought you may consider. Good luck with the new setup.
