Once again an O/T question...

coluberking25 Mar 05, 2007 05:15 PM

I think I'm getting sick. Apparently it seems I'm looking up more rat stuff than reptile stuff, which is very odd considering I've loved reptiles my entire life. Any of you guys go through similar experiences? Or am I the only herper with pet rats and snakes under the same roof(when sprig break starts lol).

Never kept a pet rat in my life. I've probably produced in the ten's of thousands over the last 19 years but always consider them as food for my real passion. I understand they can be quite friendly and much more like a cat/dog type pet. Just not for me.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

My girlfriend and i have a pet rat called "Bella" it is really her's but she is nice. When i bought my BRB she said she had to offset it with something "furry" so she got Bella. Rats make great mets. very affectionate and smart. Altough i've been bit by the rat way more then i've been bit by any of my snakes . .

heh, we have 4 rats and 10 mice... the adults are my fiance's 'pets' while they're producing pups for my smaller snakes, but he's totally aware that they're feeder/breeder animals. I go by rainbows-r-us' rules of 'etiquette' too! You stop producing, you get fed off. You get sick, you get fed off. You attack and injure myself, my fiance, or another rat, and you get fed off (but you get smacked against something hard, instead of going by C02)

Now I'd go against that. That's like McDonald's serving AIDS infected cows(I know they don't exist but it's just to prove my point) to their customers. Feeding sick mice to snakes can possibly get the snakes sick as well.

Such beautiful snakes as BRBs deserve only the best food anyway
