Advice for Mellers?

numbsun Mar 05, 2007 06:18 PM

I am considering a Mellers Chameleon. I have experience with several types of chameleons in the past, but have heard almost nothing but horror stories about Mellers. In the interest of not having mine end up another dead Mellers story, I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on keeping one.

Thanks in advance,
Frank

Hi Frank,

If you set up the enclosure and prey in advance, and do some research, keeping a Meller's does not have to be a horror story.

There is a lot of care information about this species at The Melleri Discovery web site. If you want to ask keepers your questions live, our weekly Meller's chat starts at 8pm Eastern, just follow the chat link at The Melleri Discovery.

Most horror stories begin with a miserable imported adult. Sometimes people are lucky and end up with a healthy one, but more often they are really dehydrated, sick, stressed, and in need of a lot of care. Kristina is right...The Melleri Discovery is great! The first thing you should do is check for any captive hatched or cbb melleri and your experience will be much different!
