Axanthic & snow ball pythons

ball_morphs2007 Mar 05, 2007 06:31 PM

i've read about the Jolliff, VPI, and Snake Keeper lines of Axanthic. Can these lines be crossed together? Meaning Jolliff axanthic and SK be breed together to produce Axanthic. If you have a SK axanthic and a Jolliff het axanthic can they produce axanthic offspring? Can albinos het SK axanthic be breed to het Jolliff and produce axanthic and DH snow?

If the lines are incompatible does anyone know why?

My understanding is the the Joliff and the Sutherland line is compatible.

Does anyone know the website/business name I can't seem to find it on google

As far as I know none of the of the lines cross. They all have to be bred to another of the same line to produce snows.

I have heard that they probably ALL will cross, but nobody seems to want to do it because some original hets of the SK line and VPI line were bred togather, and did not produce Axanthics?? Have you bred a VPI Axanthic to one of your line Axanthics? Have you bred your line to any other line? If so, what were the outcomes?

I think Kevin posted a while back that he tried crossing lines and has yet to see anything come from it. So current diagnosis:
INCOMPATIBLE

But, I could be crazy.

Did kevin breed het to het, homozygous to het, or homozygous X homozygous? Has anyone ever tried homozygous to homozygous using any lines

I do not remember exactly what he said. Just some grumblings about it not working. But assuming the EvilMorphGod is as powerful as he claims, I'd venture a guess that it was a breeding of 2 homozygous snakes.

I've seen ads selling, and photos of, Axanthics that were a cross of SK and D&M lines.

I don't recall if it was homo X homo, het X homo, or whatever, that produced them, just that the Axanthics offered were produced by crossing the two lines, and that the two lines ARE compatible.

Hope this helps.

If memory serves you are correct to date D&M and TSK are the only two lines that have been successfully crossed.

As far as specifics and who has done what with which lines I don't know - but I do recall over the past few years seeing double hets for two lines being sold - which would lead me to believe that homo forms have been attempted.

I don't think I've ever seen one.
Does anyone have a pic?

Who is D&M?

An SK to a D&M would create all axanthics, or just double hets for SK/D&M?

Since the SK and D&M lines ARE compatible, theory says that the offspring from an SK Ax to a D&M Ax would be 100% Axanthics.

If my memory serves me correctly the SK/D&M cross animal was produced from a Homo to a Het (either Homo SK X Het D&M...or Homo D&M X Het SK....forgot which of the two possibilities it was, sorry)

D&M has a basic basic website located at dmbreeders.com

There are NO photos of their Axanthic line on their page though.

Email me and I'll send you some pics of the D&M line Axanthics as well as the 'cross' animal.
