Picture of my new Savu baby - questions

wendigo Aug 11, 2003 11:24 PM

I picked this little fella up last weekend. He is eating pinkies - should I feed him twice a week? I think he was being fed once a week - it just seems weird to me because I'm a monitor person and used to feeding daily.

hello,

One appropriately sized meal every four to seven days would work for him at his stage. As he grows into a sub-adult/adult feed him less often, about every seven to 10 days.

I personally feed my baby snakes, twice a week depending on how old they are. Well, I offer twice a week, sometimes they don't want to eat both days. Just becareful with Savus as he gets older, they tend to get fat very quickly. My adult male stays in his hide most of the time, peeking out on feeding days. I went to clean his cage and realized he was quite fat and is now on a diet. These guys have amazing appetites, and I think they would eat everyday if you let them. They also have pretty high metabolisms, I have never seen a snake poop so much.
