Lucien Aug 11, 2003 11:31 PM

I recieved word directly from my Cable ISP about a worm now going around thats targetting Windows XP office and Professional, Windows 2000 office and Professional, Windows Server 3.0 as well as others. It operates above bandwidth and replicates in your system. Microsoft has a patch for it now.. and it was just shown on the news. Anyone wants to read about it go here:

No, it's not a hoax at all. The Microsoft patch doesn't necessarily work, though... In fact, some of the viruses can block it, anyway. And the source code for these viruses are readily available, so there are a ton of people using them. Be careful and run a firewall

Anyway, on http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html there's info and they do have a patch, although it requires more than just a download. Symantec is the company that makes Norton anti-virus, so they're trustable.

No this is definately no hoax, I have been fighting with it for 4 days now. I asked chesh about it and she knew what it was. It really pisses me off that people have to stoop to being like that.
