To D3 or not to D3???

kevmimcc Mar 06, 2007 12:42 AM

I have heard all the time to leave calcium in a dish wiht no D3 for them and I have heard to put calcium WITH D3 on their food, but not too much. What is the difference? What do they need? Is D3 bad for them or good for them? Please someone explain this! Thankyou!!

There should be yes a dish with PURE calcuim NO D3 in the tank at all times. You should be dusting 1-3 times a week with vitamins and the calcuim with d3. Too much D3 can be toxic to a leo.

Thanks! I saw for sale for a very reasonable price (like $4 for a pound) It was called calcium carbonate. Is that the same thing as pure calcium???

Yes, pure calcium is calcium carbonate. I usually buy the one sold for human and crush the tablets myself.
