I will probably be taking a 4 day vacation soon and i want to know how to handle this situation. i have two babies, one is a YBS and the other a RES. I don't think i will be able to arrange someone to come over and feed them. i know with older turtles you can leave feeder fish for them, but when can you start that with a baby. any ideas?

you could bring him to a good reptile vet and let the them take care of him while your away.. they can watch over his health also..

I'm sure they charge for that, right?

yes they do.. but i think its worth it than letting someone unknowledgable to care for your turtle.. whats the worst thing that could happen to your turtle in the vet??

They will be fine. They will eat their poop because they smell the carbs and get energy from it. There is also fish feeding timers you could use, but they are difficult for me to use. I would throw in some plants to eat (when they get real hungry and not picky), some guppies (wont hurt at all, they sleep motionless on the tank floor and easy to eat at night), and some food in the basking area. Food in the basking area is cool, you will see that soon the turtle starts to grab the food out of water, drag it into the water and eat it. You'll be fine, no need for drastic measures. Im sure the little guy has nothing else to do and will eventually pick one. To be honesst, even with a large meal they are hungry. Whatever you do the turtle will be fine. Just make sure they have adequate water, clean, temp, lighting, etc. Just have fun on your vacation.
