I'll make a long story short. My boyfriend and I had a male Iguana for about 2 years (Sal, about 3 1/2 feet).
I work at a pet shop and someone came in with 2 females that were in dire need of care. Sophie, has bad MBD and is a littel smaller than sal. And Gala who is about 4 1/2 feet (width wise, she's a big girl!). We have a huge 9x9x10 cage where They lived happily for about a month.
All of a sudden, Gala is starting trouble with sal. Sal will be basking and gala will come over, start bobbing her head and push him away and try to "bite" him (not drawing blood just kinda mouthing) He'll get mad, bob his head and fight back. We'll break it up and they're fine and basking together. A few days(sometimes weeks)later, She'll be on the window and sal will come up to her and they'll start fighting again, then they're fine.
I understand i have a dominant female on my hands, but are these little spats normal? should I seperate them before the problem gets worse? why are they fighting all of a sudden? Is her size a factor?
Thanks for any/all advice you can give me ~M~
P.s. there are plenty of basking spots and each IG has their own food dish. The 2 new igs are DEFINETLY female.
