Housing for Multiple BTS

jmugleston Mar 06, 2007 04:38 PM

I am looking for ideas on a more efficient way to house my Blue Tongues via custom enclosures or stackable cages from an online dealer. For those out there with multiple skinks how are you housing them. I am primarily trying to reduce the floor space that is being used now.

Currently I have two blue tongue skinks. Though neither are in their adult cages yet (but soon, they are getting too big for their current cage now at 18 and 19". What i plan to do is build two cages, each 5'x2'x18" and stack them ontop of eachother (as well as a bearded dragon cage, same length and width, but 2 feet high). I will be setting up the cages so the front open downwards on hinges (using screen for the doors, don't really want to deal with glass or plexi for the doors). For lighting, will have a 2-4" gap between each cage to allow for cords etc. Will do this by having one or more 2"x4" boards running along the bottom to give that space. May not be as fancy, but there are other ways to make it more pretty. (trim could be used to hide the 'feet' in the front, with only the back and side exposed so you can get to the lights/wires/plugs as needed).

Once I have them built, will take pictures and post them. When I will l have them built, I don't know, seems every snag that can happen to delay me in building these things, has happened (sudden cold spell for several weeks prevented painting (actually also prevented me from getting the wood, no point if I can't paint it right away). Sick with pneumonia (no energy to get the pre-cut wood out of the car much less paint it and assemble it).
