Crested gecko pairs?

Sunfox Mar 06, 2007 06:03 PM

Keeping cresties in male/female pairs, good idea or bad? What do I need to know about it. Do they have to be separated after a time or can they remain together permanently? I'm having a hard time finding some good caresheets regarding this.

Thanks for the help all.

only a good idea if you are prepared, willing and able to take care of incubating eggs and raising hatchlings, because they will breed. also, they need to be of sufficient age (14 mos.)and weight (35g) before they should be allowed to breed. then they need to be separated and cool off for about 4 months out of the year so the female can rebuild calcium stores and rest.

It is not necessary to seperate the males and females during the cooling period. The colder temps alone will stop breeding but it wont hurt to seperate them if you wanted to. I keep my breeding groups together all year round.
