Vitamin supplement?

vet2010 Mar 06, 2007 07:39 PM

i recently purchased a sulcata and im not sure what would be the best calcium supplement for it and my iguana for that matter. i am currently crushing up centrum tablets and putting that on its food as a multivitamin/mineral supplement 3 times a week. cause i read that most multivitamins made for reptiles are usually actually deficit in important vitamins and minerals and that ones for mammals tend to be better balanced. it seems like there are alot of different cal supplements out there but ive heard some bad things about some of them. any advice?

Well this topic's answer is all about who you talk to, everybody has a favorite so i dont think you will get an exact answer.

My favorite Calcium product is Miner-All made by Sticky Tounge Farm. i have used some different ones but i really like this stuff, all my animals are doing great on it.

And for Vitamins i hav heard that centrum works really well, nevr tried it but i am not against trying it. but i use the Counter part to Miner-All. its called Vit-All, also made by Stickey Tounge Farm. i would look into them, i defiantly think they do a great job.

the nice thing about the Vit-All too is that you can make it moist and gut load crickets on it too.

well i finally found a calcium supplement for my iguana and sulcata its a 100% powdered calcium carbonate cant think of the name of it right now though but i think t-rex makes it. with my iguana i just sprinkle some over his food twice a week and im also crushing a centrum tablet over his food three times a week.

but with my sulcata i have its "table" set up with bed-a-beast/cypress mulch for a lil over 3/4 and the rest i set out a mixture of timothy hay carrots and greens(mostly hay though) for it too eat freely, should i just sprinkle it over its food like i do my iguana cause he eats all its food daily but my sulcata is a baby and doesnt even come close thats why i leave it out for it to eat whenever and i dont know how much its eating of the centrum and calcium. and ideas or is this ok?

that should be ok IF you make sure to stay on top of the cleanliness of the table. i personally like to feed everyday to everyother day on a seperate bowl, i can keep track of things better that way, i find it more controlled. but if it is working for you go for it, i say if it isnt broken why fix it. but really keeping it clean is what is going to be important in that set up
