Savannah Monitor not growing

flame_boy Mar 07, 2007 12:10 AM

I've had my savannah monitor since around august.
when i got it, it was around 9 inches?
and its now 7 months later and its grown maybe an inch.
it sheds non-stop, it always has cricket or worms in the tank,
i also feed it pinky an fuzzy mice and have just started feeding it hard boils eggs.

does anyone know why its not growing??

What kind of cage do you have him in and what are the temps in your cage? If he isn't warm enough to get active, then he won't eat like he should. For a young savannah it seems to me that if there's food left in the cage, something is wrong.

That was a mixture of Zupreem monitor diet and scrambled chicken egg. You can tell by the mess on her nose that she really enjoys eating...lol.

Why do you feed that stuff?

Sure, why not? I don't make it a staple, I only give it to them once about every other week or so as a treat because they go crazy for it (my timors as well). I cook the egg to destroy the avidin. They're all healthy and my timors breed every year, so it can't be harming them.

Just as long as it's not the "staple"
