Cay Caulker / mites

ballpython2007 Mar 07, 2007 01:18 AM

I purchased a Cay Caulker a about 2 weeks ago. She is very active and healthy with a great appetite. She began constant soaking in her water bowl where i found several drowned mites.I treated her with Repti-rinse and cleaned out her cage.I have a friend in the biz who told me to take the water bowl out and use "equate" (a spray for human lice which a lot of importers use with good results)I sprayed equate on her paper and several dead mites appeared over a 2 day period. I replaced her paper and water.Today she is active as usual but noticed some raised scales on both sides of her ( very small bb size bumps under her scales going down her neck almost to mid body)almost has the appearance as if she had ticks but she doesn't.Any advice to what this could be? Sorry so long i just wanted to give all the info. Thanks -Brian

NO DOUBT !
I think he has them under control for the time being, but a small invest on a pack of strips will pretty well bring a quick end/prevention to further re-infest.
Need details for use just lemme know. Our you could just cut the strips into 2" pieces and scatter them "spareingly" around the room at different levels and acouple close to the cage.
Example: (4)pieces 2"X1" will work in a 14' X 14' room, one piece in three corners and one piece on "top" of the cage(or near a vent.)If you choose to do a piece in the cage "REMOVE THE WATER"
Water absorbs the pesticides so you dont want your animal consumeing such.
Remember to retrieve the pieces after about 3 weeks and hold off on future use until needed again.
