has anyone had thier vet remove an ear abscess from a boxie and if so did they leave it open and fill the wound with salve? My girl has to have this done tomarrow and I was just wondering about the recoop time and how it healed for others. Thanks

The vet will probably instruct you to flush the wound daily with an antiseptic and then pack it with antibiotic ointment. For a week or more. It's important to flush the wound in order to avoid re-infection. If you have ANY questions about how things should be done, ask the vet to show you exactly how, so that you can provide follow-up care confidently.

thats sort of what I thought. No problem on keeping it clean. I will house her in a temperary "hospital" tank while she heals so she won't get dirt in the hole. Thanks for the reassurance. Can't help be a bit nervous about the proceedure.
