Male has thing hanging out of his butt

VTEC Mar 07, 2007 09:14 PM

My male leo mated with one of my females tonight and it looks like he forgot to put his tools back in his drawers. Is this normal? Right after they finished he was licking it for a minute or so and I figured he would put it away but I just checked (10 mins after mating) and its still out.

I came home from school today to find his package hanging out again with a few grains of sand attached to it. I took him out and let him hang out in the sink with some warm water in it to try to get the sand off. I got the sand off and now have him on paper towels. What should i do? Is this normal?

After some research I found it is a hemipenal prolapse. I cleaned it out with saline solution and I'm just going to see if it gets better in a day or two if not bring him to a vet. Anyone have any info?

Take him to the vet!

Yeah I plan too eventually. I am first going to try the home remedies like sugar baths, saline cleanings, and putting KY jelly on it to keep it wet. If it doesn't go back in within a few days I'm going to the vet.
