Weight for double clutch

DemonFrog Mar 07, 2007 10:57 PM

Hi, my corn laid 11 fertile eggs on the 5th and i was wondering, what weight should she be after laying if i want her to double clutch, i mean like after laying what is a SAFE weight for her to be at before i start building her up again?
thank you in advance
DemonFrog
P.S. this is a before laying pic (about 5 days prior)

In my experience if a snake is going to double clutch, it will do so regardless of its weight and there really isn't anything you can do to stop it. Some snakes seem "genetically programmed" to double clutch, while others (even with good weight) never drop a second clutch in a single season.

To help them put weight back on, I feed females twice a week after they lay eggs.

Rosy Ratsnake(E.g. rosacea) it's hard to tell from the photo, but it sure looks like it could be to me......I used to have some AWESOME rosies some years ago. Pisses me off that I don't have any pics of them!!!................................Doug

No, the photo is kind of dark - it's my zigzag het for creamsicle. I've seen some pretty fine rosy rats though, so I know exactly what you're talking about. Here's a better-lit photo of the same snake.

Sometimes they go into a shed right after egglaying. If this is the case, she probably won't eat until after shedding, but most likely will start up again after the shed.
