So, lets see some pix of this stuff!
~ Mike
Going to, my dig cam prety much sucks, so I'm, having a friend come over tomorrow a take some killer pics. Now what to buy next (snake wise)? Got any ideas? Still have a peanut butter brooksi on it's way here!
Scott
Ideas?? Sure i have ideas...
Get a few of everything you like.. Most of my collection is Alterna's... You can have a whole rack (or 2) of gray bands and have no 2 that look alike.
~ Mike Russo

I got two now from langrty, but you can never have enough! Btw love your BD's.........NICE!
Scott
That's a nice idea Mike, taking the pics in small containers restrains them and gives good detail.
I got some West Langtry graybands too. Who did you get yours from? Can't wait to see pics.
Got mine on a herp trip to Texas in 2002 with a friend
So trying to figure out what's next om my list , any ideas?
Well if you intend to breed everything your best bet is to score mates for all your current single snakes. I highly recommend getting some Pituophis though, they make very interesting captives. Tom Stevens

Thanks Mike, I do have a very cool morph, a Sonora bull, sriped and banded, never seen one like her before. Was wondering how the babies would hatch out? But I do have a special place for kings and milks, but it would be interesting to breed her and see what they come out to be like. Like to breed my Ca kings and GBKs too. Be another year before I can breed my black kings and/or my brooksi. So Mike what would you go with for your next snake?
I am Nokturnel Tom, not Nokturnel Mike????

I know, but I should know your name by now, I hope! Feel like I need a babe secretary to do my typing for me.
Had a friend come over yesterday to take some pics, should have them posted soon!

Pits are o.k., but I wish more people were into Indigos. Us Florida guys aren’t allowed to keep them (I have Cribos instead) I guess for most they are prohibitively expensive and do have special housing requirements to consider, but they are very special colubrids. It would be great if these snakes could be produced in numbers among private keepers if just for the conservation aspect of it. It would be a great accomplishment for all captive breeders if this snake became common due to the efforts of private breeders.
They are cool, but so protected, can't seeing that happen here!
Scott
i second that tom. gotta love the pits!
I do got an awesome looking pit now, just love the kings and milks more...Scott
I second that!!!
Pits, IMO, are the ultimate snakes to own.
Great to hear about all the new arrivals!!!!

slow down....i would suggest quality over qauntity;i know some guys(i don't think they get much free time!) that keep hundreds of specimens.i wouldn't ever do that myself,i am too lazy and like doing other things too much, things outside my snake room(s)....my collection is i think at 35 c.b. specimens, and that's about what i feel i can confidently say i care for properly and give all the attention they need and still leaves time for my job and other interests....so maybe if i can summarize, next time you see one you like, mull it over for a day or two before you make the purchase.

to answer your question-consider:will you breed them or not?are you getting these to make money?then get what you think everyone wants,or will in a few years....are you seeking something simply for your own enjoyment?get what YOU like.some go for the new oddball morphs, and developing them and/or new ones.i have a thing for the native n.a. stuff, esp. oddballs & less common forms that defy easy scientific/taxonomic pigeonholing(i.e. 'problematic forms')....oh yeah some of those eurasian colubrids(elaphe, etc.) are highly underated too.

That's a very attractive milk, whatzit? Don't count out the longnoses! I am working on mice eaters now, or hoggies!
Todd Hughes

Definitely don't count out the longnoses. That's the snake I'm definitely hoping to see (ALIVE --- saw a DOR clarus phase last September in Borrego) this year. I think ours out here are mostly lizard eaters.
