question about emeralds and provent a mi

Sonya Mar 08, 2007 11:12 AM

I work in a pet store and had a customer with a wc emerald that came to him in rough shape, not eating and mites. He said he had force fed a pinkie and it 'perked up'. He wanted to get rid of the mites. I sprayed a stack of newspaper with my provent a mite and let it dry a bit, bagged it and told him to be sure it was totally dry then change out cages with it. This was yesterday. Today he says the one snake is dead and though I haven't talked to him yet I want any feelings on whether you think I killed this snake. I don't think I did and I have read others using provent a mite for tree boas. I have used it on several new herps with no losses. I am thinking the snake was gonna go anyway and the timing sucks for me, but would love some input.TIA

The animal was obviously susceptible to major illnesses prior to the use of PAM. Its quite likely it had an RI, and who knows what else. In this weakened state, almost anything could have easily killed it.

It was dead before he even came into your store. He just didn't know it.

Thanks, we talked and he was cool. Sad, but cool. I don't think I could do Tree boas for the frustration.
