I have 1.1 subadult red tegus that I am moving from individual 36"x18"x18" wooden cages into a 6'x2'x2' cage.
I am planning to install ceramic incandescent fixtures for basking flood lights inside just as I did in the current cages with satisfaction.
I'm debating between locating both basking lights on one side of the cage to allow for a cool end for thermoregulation, or putting them on opposite sides so they could bask away from each other if they want? Would that allow for the middle area of the enclosure to be sufficiently cooler?
The second debate I'm having is whether to put vents on the back and each side, or just one vent in the back. If the rear vent is toward the top and the side vents are midway or lower, I would think it would provide good ventilation, but perhaps one vent would be sufficient for ventilation and make it easier to retain humidity.
Any comments and thought would be welcome.
Thanks,
Dan
